Transit Watch
When it comes to our safety, we can always use an extra pair of eyes.
The Transit Watch campaign is a nationwide safety and security awareness program designed to encourage the active participation of transit passengers and employees in working together to maintain a safe environment. The campaign provides information and instructions, so you’ll know what to do and who to contact in the event of an emergency in a transit setting. Pierce Transit invites you to be the “eyes and ears” of our local transit system.
Passengers are an important part of our security system. Make it hard on criminals by locking your car, leaving valuables at home or taking them with you, and being aware of your surroundings. If you notice someone or something suspicious, please notify your coach operator or call 911 immediately.
Pierce Transit maintains and operates a non-emergency crime-reporting system that is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. You may report a crime by phone or email (calls and reports will remain anonymous upon request).
All buses have two-way radios and alarm systems to notify Public Safety dispatchers if there is a problem or need for assistance, and security cameras are located at most transit centers.
Please report all crimes on Pierce Transit property to assist us in identifying and reducing problem activity. See our Rules of the Ride and the applicable state and local laws.
