Pierce Transit Offers Free Special Service to the Maritime Gig Festival
Pierce Transit is providing a free, supplemental special event service during the Maritime Gig Festival on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 to help people more easily attend the festivities. It will run from the Kimball Park & Ride to a temporary stop at Judson and Stanich (near Hop Pharm) and operate from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on both days. The service will run every 30 minutes but may depart earlier if the bus is full.
The Pierce Transit Trolley will appear in Saturday’s Grande parade and Pierce Transit’s 1948 Twin Fageol 41-S coach will be on display at the Wheels on the Water car show on Sunday. Gig Harbor Runner riders are encouraged to take the Runner to the Kimball Park & Ride and use the free supplemental shuttle to get to Maritime Gig Festival events. During the Maritime Gig Festival, there may be extended wait times for Runner, as it will take longer to get around the zone.
Due to road closures, Pierce Transit Route 100 will be on a detour for the duration of the festival and will not serve downtown Gig Harbor bus stops while the parade is underway on June 1. After the parade ends, some Route 100 downtown service will resume, but the route will remain on a modified detour. Riders can find more information at PierceTransit.org/route-100-gig-harbor as the event gets closer.
Pierce Transit’s seasonal Trolley service, Route 101, will begin on July 6 this year and continue through August 31. Similar to 2023, the service will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays to support the Gig Harbor Farmer’s Market and weekend tourism.
